Africa at the Berlin International Film Festival

Three African films and another partly produced by Namibia are in official competition at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, which runs from February 15 to 25, 2024.

Africa is also taking part in this year’s Berlinale, with a total of 20 works by authors from the four corners of the globe

It’s a cinema in full mutation that’s making its mark at international festivals.

Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako’s La Colline parfumée, French-Senegalese director Mati Diop’s Le Retour and Meryam Joobeur’s Me el Ain (Where we come from) are competing for the Golden Bear.

The film Pépé by Dominican director Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias, co-produced with Namibia, is also in the Berlinale competition.
