Cholera epidemic kills 412 people in Zambia

A cholera epidemic has killed 412 people according to the latest count from the Zambia Institute of Public Health.

This situation, which began last October, led the authorities to order schools across the country to remain closed after the end-of-year vacations.

A large soccer stadium in the capital has been transformed into a treatment center

The Zambian government is embarking on a mass vaccination program and claims to be supplying drinking water, 2.4 million liters a day to affected communities throughout this southern African country.

“This epidemic continues to pose a threat to the nation’s health security,” said Health Minister Sylvia Masebo.

“This was a nationwide problem,” she added.
