The Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak had clocked up 113 hours of cooking since January 1, 2024. in Tamale in northern Ghana.
She plans to reach 200 hours in the longest culinary marathon. Her ambition is to break the world record for the longest culinary marathon, currently held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, in 119 hours and 57 minutes.
While awaiting the verdict, Failatu Abdul-Razak is the pride of the nation. The chef has already received massive support from Ghanaians, including armed forces personnel.
“As a Ghanaian, this is historic, something that has never happened here before. We recently had a singing marathon in Accra. And now a culinary marathon, the first of its kind. So it’s historic, and as a Ghanaian, I’m proud to be part of it,” explained a resident.
For Failatou Abdul-Razak, this challenge is a national mission that she intends to take up at all costs.
According to the record rules, she is only entitled to five-minute breaks every hour, or a cumulative hour after a 12-hour period.
The Guinness record organization is expected to make a decision in the coming days.
