Suspected members of the terrorist group killed a popular pastor of the Church of Christ of the Nations in Geidam, Yobe State, Nigeria, according to reports.
“The invaders burnt down several houses and a church during their attack,” according to residents.
The terrorists launched their attack on the area around 2 am leding to the death of the church’s treasurer.
The corpses have been evacuated to the Specialist Hospital in Geidam.
“Geidam is a frontline area in the war against insurgency and the Nigerian military should be contacted,” the Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim said.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Nigerian Army Spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, were unsuccessful.
Recall that Geidam is a hotspot in the fight against insurgency and over 150,000 people have been displaced in the area.
Also, Boko Haram is a militant organisation based in northeastern Nigeria and has killed an estimated 50,000 people and displaced more than 2.5 million people since its establishment.
