Since the 1984 CAN, when only eight nations took part, Côte d’Ivoire is hosting this continental sporting event for the second time in its history, starting on January 13, 2024.
In total, nearly 1.5 billion dollars have been invested to accelerate certain infrastructure projects, notably stadiums and roads.
“All eyes will be on Côte d’Ivoire, and we have no real fears,” assures François Amichia, Chairman of the CAN Organizing Committee (Cocan).
Five of the country’s cities – Abidjan, Yamoussoukro (center), Bouaké (center), San Pedro (south) and Korhogo (north) will host the matches.
Some 1.5 million visitors are expected, according to the organizers.
