4 French nationals arrested for spying

Four French nationals have been arrested and are being held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, according to reports.

Presented by Paris as DGSE agents, Ouagadougou refers to them as “spies”.

the four Frenchmen were arrested on December 1 and were indicted two weeks later and then imprisoned at the Ouagadougou correctional prison (Maco).

“They were technical civil servants holding valid diplomatic passports and on assignment to carry out IT maintenance for the French Embassy,” according to reports.

“The French agents had arrived in Burkina Faso in good standing for an official mission,” reports added.

Discussions are said to be underway for their release.
