Niger: deadline for the final withdrawal of French soldiers

All French soldiers present in Niger will have definitively left the country by December 22, the Nigerien army announced.

“1,346 French troops and 80% of logistical equipment have been withdrawn from our borders. As of today, only 157 French soldiers remain on our territory, including 75 logisticians”, said Niger’s national television newscast.

This withdrawal, demanded by Niger’s military regime in power since the July 26 coup, was due to end by December 31, according to an announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron.
