A 49-year-old former professor at the University of West Georgia (United States) has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a student last year.
He will be able to benefit from parole after 30 years in prison, or at the age of 77, if his detention goes without a hitch, American media Fox News reported.
The man pleaded guilty Monday during his trial in Coweta County Court, Georgia.
He was charged with “premeditated murder”, “aggravated assault” and “possession of a firearm”.
The victim, Anna Jones, a student who had just celebrated her 18th birthday, was shot and killed while she was in a parking lot on July 30, 2022. Her rapid admission to the emergency room did not allow her to save: the young woman died of her injuries immediately.
