Two suspected thieves set on fire in Anambra

A mob set fire to two suspected thugs near Sokoto Road, Main Market, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, reports said.

“A tricycle operator had dropped a passenger and his goods in the market, and as he was about to move, the suspects approached him and attempted to disposse him of his money,” according to reports.

“The mob first lynched the suspects before setting them on fire,” according to eyewitnesses.

The state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

“The two male suspects are members of a notorious armed robbery gang,” according to information.

The gang is alleged to be responsible for several attacks and the dispossession of traders and unsuspecting victims of their personal belongings at the Main Market, Onitsha.
