Man executed for murder of 70-year-old woman

A man was executed in Texas, United States, on Tuesday after being sentenced to death for the murder of an elderly woman in 2000.

“Jedidiah Murphy, a 48-year-old American, received a lethal injection in a Huntsville prison and was pronounced dead,” the Texas Department of Justice reported.

This year, already 20 people have been executed after receiving the death penalty in the United States.

The execution of Jedidiah Murphy comes despite his attempts to modify or postpone his sentence.

“To the victim’s family, I want to say that I sincerely apologize for everything I did. I hope this will comfort you, thank you,” he said as his last words.
