Police officer shot himself dead in Nairobi

A senior police officer has died by suicide after shooting himself in the chin in Utawala, Nairobi, according to reports.

“The deceased shot himself in his house after he had called his friend who is also a police officer and told her he would die by suicide,” according to reports.

The motive of the suicide is not known but other colleagues said he had been a victim of extortion and threats.

“The body was found lying at a local hospital where he had been rushed to,” accordingto reports.

A Beretta pistol with 12 bullets was found beside the body.

Senior police officers who visited the scene termed it tragic. The body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy.
