According to the Élysée, Emmanuel Macron spoke with Hassoumi Massaoudou, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the overthrown government in Niger.
The French Head of State assured him of “France’s determination to continue its efforts with the heads of state of ECOWAS and its European and international partners for a return to constitutional order in Niger”, specified the French presidency.
The French ambassador to Niger Sylvain Itté, whose departure the military in power in Niamey had been demanding since the end of August, also left Niamey this Wednesday at the end of a long standoff between the two countries.
