A young girl was severely beaten by members of the CSP7 police force in N’Djamena, Chad, according to reports.
“The victim in her twenties was left half-dead after being tortured by elements of the CSP7 (CA 7) police as she was accused by her boss of stealing a telephone,” reports said.
“Her boss captured her and handed her over to the police, who subjected her to this unbelievable and intolerable ordeal, without informing her parents,” according to a waitress at the bar.
It was by chance that one of her cousins, who went to the police station to follow up on a pending case, came across her.
It was only after several interventions that the victim was handed over to her family.
In Chad, the police and army have a reputation for unprecedented violence.
Last year, violent demonstrations resulted in the deaths of some sixty people.
