A couple starves their 5-year-old child for days

A 47-year-old father and his 23-year-old wife have been arrested for starving their five-year-old child for days in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria.

“The couple were obeying their pastor’s prophecy that the five-year-old is a witch, hence, does not deserve to live,” according to them.

The State Commissioner for Women and Social Protection, Ify Obinabo, has been informed of developments.

She commended those who raised the alarm towards the rescuing of the child and called on other individuals to always speak out against child abuse.

The couple were immediately arrested and handed over to the police.
