Woman sentenced to 22 years in prison for sending poisoned letter to Trump

A Franco-Canadian was sentenced Thursday to nearly 22 years in prison in the United States for having sent a poisoned letter to former president, Donald Trump at the White House in 2020, the American justice announced .

Pascale Ferrier, 56, pleaded guilty in January in federal court in Washington to “violations of biological weapons rules”. The sentence corresponds to the 262 months in prison provided for in his agreement with the prosecution.

“The court will also order her deportation at the end of her sentence”, the Justice Department said in a statement.

According to the court filing, the letter, which was intercepted at the White House mail sorting center, called Donald Trump, then a candidate for re-election, a “tyrannical villain clown”.

“Give up, don’t run for this election,” she wrote, before specifying that she had slipped into the letter “a special gift” to “help” him decide.

After posting her threatening letters in Canada, she traveled to the United States where she was arrested by border guards in possession of a loaded weapon and numerous ammunition.
