Russia has called for the immediate release of the President of the Republic of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, overthrown by soldiers in a coup.
“We count on the rapid release of President Bazoum by the military,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement.
“We call all parties to the conflict to refrain from the use of force and to resolve all disputes through peaceful and constructive dialogue”, it added.
More and more voices are rising to condemn the coup in Niger, to call for the release and security of President Bazoum as well as the return to constitutional order.
