Libreville airport closed after power outage

Flights arriving or departing from Libreville, the Gabonese capital, have been canceled since Monday and those who were in the air have been diverted to neighboring countries.

Léon-Mba international airport has been paralyzed since last Monday due to a giant power outage.

According to the airport’s officials “no plane has taken off or landed since Monday, shortly before midnight. In the terminal, all passenger boarding and disembarking counters are closed. On the screens, all the flights are red, delayed or canceled ”.

The authorities took time to communicate on the situation, but thanks to internal sources at the airport, we learned that a giant power failure is at the origin of this imbroglio.

But on Tuesday afternoon the Gabonese society for energy and water acknowledged in a press release that an incident on the high voltage network had caused this power outage in a good part of the north of the capital, where is the airport. On the same day, Gabon’s transport ministry instructed airport managers to work to get everything back to normal.
