TikTok challenge killed four people in the United States

At least four people have died in the past six months in Alabama in the United States, after attempting a dangerous challenge.

The “boat challenge” consists of jumping from a speeding boat, while of course filming the jump.

Except that at high speed, the water quickly becomes hard as stone.

“They literally broke their necks,” Jim Dennis of the Childersburg City Rescue Team told NBC, pointing to a “TikTok challenge.”

“You can end up with broken bones, a broken neck, or you can end up hitting the propeller of your own boat,” said Gail Kulp, director of the Sea Tow Foundation, which fights against boating accidents.

This challenge is not new, but the resurgence of deaths has prompted authorities to warn of its risks. For its part, TikTok ensures that it is not a trend on the social network, even videos of this kind remain accessible on the platform.

The warning also applies to diving. Each year, there are several deaths by drowning, especially on the arrival of fine weather.
