Young girl commits suicide after being raped

A 16-year-old girl committed suicide after her boss’s husband raped her at their home in Eruwa community, Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria.

“The minor had been learning fashion design from the suspect’s wife and had been living with her boss to also assist her with domestic chores,” according to reports.

The minor was sleeping in a room at the couple’s residence when the suspect entered the room, raped her and threatened to kill her if she revealed what happened.

“The victim was traumatised by the action and drank a substance suspected to be insecticide and died from the toxic substance,” reports said.

“My daughter once confessed to me that the suspect usually disturbed her while sleeping at night,” the deceased mother said.

The suspect was arrested by the police, while the deceased’s relatives are demanding justice.
