WhatsApp now allows you to filter unwanted calls: here’s how

After end-to-end encryption, the integration of ephemeral messages or the possibility of locking a discussion using a PIN code or biometric data saved on a device, WhatsApp continues to improve the privacy protection of exchanges on its platform with the arrival of a new feature.

Tired of receiving calls from unknown numbers? WhatsApp now allows you to automatically mute them, the platform announced on June 20. According to WhatsApp, this new option “automatically filters spam, scams and calls from unknown numbers for even more protection”.

Click on the three small dots at the top right of the screen and select “Settings”

  • Go to the “Privacy” tab
  • Tap the “Calls. Mute unknown numbers” tab
  • Enable “Mute unknown numbers”

With this option, unknown calls no longer ring your smartphone. These muted calls, however, continue to appear in your recent calls list as “Unknown call muted” in case you want to call back.
