Ezekiel Odero, one of Kenya’s most influential pastors, was arrested on Thursday after being accused of the ‘mass murder of his followers’
The pastor, all dressed in white, Bible in hand, was transferred to the regional police headquarters in Mombasa, local media report.
The arrest comes as authorities announced measures against “unacceptable” cults, described as “terrorist“, following the discovery in recent days of 98 bodies, followers of another “church” in what is now called “The Shakahola Massacre”.
“Ezekiel Odero, head of the New Life Prayer Center and Church, has been arrested and is facing criminal charges in connection with the mass murder of his worshippers”, the Minister of Interior Kithure Kindiki in a statement.
