Taiwan’s defense minister said on Monday morning that he detected 11 Chinese warships and 59 planes around the island as Beijing is to hold live-fire drills to end three days of military maneuvers.
“The Chinese military continues to conduct military exercises around Taiwan”, the ministry said, adding that fighter jets and bombers are among the aircraft spotted in the morning.
In parallel, Beijing announced simulated strikes by Chinese planes “carrying live ammunition” near the island.
The Chinese authorities also pointed out that the aircraft carrier Shandong is mobilized for the occasion.
“Several groups of H-6K fighters carrying live ammunition carried out several waves of simulated strikes on important targets on the island of Taiwan,” confirms state television CCTV.
