Concerned about rising sea levels, the UN Security Council met on Tuesday to discuss the issue of rising sea levels and its corollaries on peace and global security.

UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres expressed Tuesday, his concern about the rise in sea levels.

“Rising seas are swallowing up the future,” he says.

“It is not only a threat in itself. It’s a threat multiplier,” he added.

For the head of the UN, the direct consequences of rising sea levels are incalculable.

According to official figures, the phenomenon directly threatens around 900 million people, or one person in 10.
