Provisional report says at least 2300 died in earthquakes in Turkey and Syria

At least 1,498 people have died in Turkey, according to a report sent at 3:30 p.m. 2,834 collapsed buildings have been counted.

The quake was felt across the Middle East, including Syria. At least 810 people died in the collapse of numerous buildings in the country, according to the authorities and the rescue services.

Many countries including Ukraine, France and Russia at war – have promised to send rescuers or their help to Turkey and Syria.

The tremors were recorded on seismographs as far away as Greenland.
