Ghana: eight pupils died in the Volta lake

Eight pupils have died on their way to school when a boat they were traveling on capsized on the Volta Lake, Ghana, according to reports.

The pupils were 20 traveling from the Atikagome Community in the Sene East District of the Bono East region when they lost their lives when a boat they were traveling on to school capsized on the Volta Lake.

The eight were among 20 pupils who were traveling from Atikagome to Wayokope when the incident occurred midway into the journey.

The incident happened in a small fishing community where the only school in the area is located.
