A group of scientists discovered a new species of lizard in a nature reserve in Cusco, in southeastern Peru, the national agency in charge of protected natural areas said on Monday.
“Otishi National Park reveals a new species of lizard to science,” the institution said in a statement.
This lizard is characterized by a dark gray color and a tail that is longer than its body. It has ridged dorsal and prefrontal scales.
Otishi National Park is a protected area in the region of Cusco and Junín that includes 305,973 hectares of high altitude forests.
