Two minor children were killed in a fire while being locked in a room by their parents in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, according to reports.
“I left my phone to illuminate the room for the children, hoping to return soon after my injection; my wife earlier went out to buy something,” according to the victims father.
“I came back and saw people gathered and discovered that my two children were burnt dead and we don’t know the source of the fire,” he added.
“We had no idea that the kids were inside the room when they saw fire burning the room,” according to neighbors.
During observation there was no light source such as electrical connections, candle or gas cylinder, in the room.
The cause of the inferno had yet to be ascertained as of press time.
