Two Nigerien soldiers and an expatriate, lost their lives following the crash of an MI-17 helicopter of the Nigerien Armed Forces in Niamey, according to reports.
The statement from the Nigerien defense boss explained “that the tragedy occurred, returning from a routine training flight, the MI-17 aircraft crashed while landing on the military runway of Niamey airport.”
The three people involved belong to the crew. More precisely, they are an officer and a Nigerien non-commissioned officer as well as an expatriate instructor.
A commission of inquiry has been set up to clarify the causes of this tragic accident.
It should be noted that no details have been given on the identity of the three people killed.
