The Hisbah Board in Kano State has arrested 15 women and four men at an event center in the metropolis for allegedly participating in a same-sex marriage program, Nigeria.
The suspects, who were in their early 20s, were at the event center to witness the wedding of two suspected homosexuals.
Hisbah officials stormed the venue before the wedding rites began after a resident’s report.
The bride and groom escaped after the arrival of the agency’s agents.
The general commander said “the organizer of the event was in custody, adding that the council would intensify its efforts to arrest the fleeing couple.”
Those in custody will be handed over to the police for necessary action.
