The decomposing body of a three-day-old baby was found inside a polythene bag in a manhole at Oklu Nkwanta, a suburb of Kasoa Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of Ghana’s Central Region.
According to eyewitnesses, their concern grew after they saw the polythene bag in the manhole and they started to unpack it, discovering the baby in the process.
It is believed that the baby was murdered and thrown into the manhole by his mother.
A neighbor quoted by Adomonline website said that suspicions were high after she failed to produce a baby, despite being put to bed.
She reportedly denied having a child and defended that her protruding belly was the result of a fibroid.
When the discovery was announced, the suspect reportedly fled.
The case was reported to the Awutu Ofaakor District Police Command and the police are searching for the suspect.
