Nigeria: 10 teachers killed and 50 others kidnapped in Kaduna state

Armed men killed at least 10 teachers and kidnapped 50 others in Nigeria’s Kaduna State from January to date, the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) said.

Ishaya Dauda, Chairman of ASUSS Chapter in Kaduna State, advised Governor Nasir El-Rufai to employ all possible means to secure the release of all teachers and other victims still in captivity in various camps in the state. State.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna on Wednesday, as part of World Teachers’ Day 2022 commemoration activities with the theme “Educational Transformation Begins with Teachers”, he lamented that “more than 10 teachers have been killed and more than 50 others abducted “from January to date in Kaduna and the abducted teachers are still in captivity”.

Mr. Dauda said the union is fully aware of the insecurity threatening the existence of the corporation in Kaduna State, urging the state government to take proactive measures to end the threat.
