Ousmane Sonko, mayor of the city of Ziguinchor in southern Senegal, called on African peoples to stick together behind Mali in its standoff against France.
The main opponent of President Macky Sall said all Africans must give their support today to the Malian People who have shown France and the international community, their determination to end neo-colonialism.
“Indeed, I am a Senegalese by birth but also an African by nationality, which leads me today to support without reservation President Assimi Goïta and his entire team for the fight they are leading against imperialism and neo-colonialism on behalf of all Africans,” he added.
Considered the main opponent of the regime, Ousmane Sonko created a surprise in 2019 by obtaining 16% of the vote, ranking third nationally behind Macky Sall and Idrissa Seck. He will probably be a presidential candidate in 2024.
