Diplomacy: Paris sacks its ambassador to Togo after serious accusations

France recalled its ambassador to Togo, Jocelyne Caballero, after the diplomat was accused of intimidating and harassing embassy staff.

Jocelyne Caballero is no longer France Ambassador to Togo.

It comes as the Quai d’Orsay opened a case on July 28 against the ambassador and her collaborator, the first embassy counselor, Aymeric Lorthiois.

The two diplomats, who no longer have good relations with the embassy staff, were suspended for having “roughed up” and “intimidated” several staff members.

Note that this is not a recall due to diplomatic relations between the two states, the embassy continues its regular service in Togo.

In office since October 2020 in Togo, Jocelyne Caballero was the 19th representative of France in Togo, a country which she leaves with regret.
