Kenya: “They pressured me to tamper with the results”, Wafula Chebukati

While Kenyan opponent Raila Odinga and his coalition continue to reject the election result, the head of the electoral commission, Wafula Chebukati, on Wednesday raised the issue of the attempt to manipulate the figures.

According to the chairperson of the electoral commission, quoted by RFI, four commissioners tried to put pressure on him to agree to tamper with the result which declared William Ruto the winner.

“This is equivalent to subverting the constitution and the sovereign will of the people,” Mr Chebukati denounced in a statement.

He also claims that several members of his staff continue to be “harassed and intimidated”.

Meanwhile, the elected president, William Ruto is moving forward and showing that he is already planning for the action of his future government.
