Touadéra: “The Central African Republic is not leaving the CFA Franc…”

The President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera, declared that his country is not leaving the franc of the French colonies (CFA franc), after a meeting with his Gabonese counterpart Ali Bongo.

He made the comment when asked about the introduction of “bitcoin” as the second official currency in his country.

“It is also a call to investors who are numerous, on cryptocurrencies, to invest in the Central African Republic,» he said.

President Touadera said he came to thank Gabon for the role it played on the UN Security Council during a recent vote on the lifting of the arms embargo in favor of the Central African army.

The leaders also discussed an upcoming Defense Memorandum of Understanding between the Central African Republic and Gabon.
