Gunmen in Nigeria on Wednesday released two actors they kidnapped while returning from a movie set in south-eastern of the country, the Actors Guild of Nigeria said.
The pair, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, were abducted last Friday in Ozalla town, Enugu state.
They were released unhurt after their abductors “were touched by the spirit of God”, the guild said in a statement.
Emeka Rollas, head of the guild, has urged actors “to be security-conscious on and off film sets at all times”.
Nigeria is struggling to curb a deadly wave of kidnappings for ransom by armed gangs in various parts of the country.
The gangs often target unprotected rural communities, schools and motorists on highways.
