United States: President Biden tested positive for Covid-19

US President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, the White House announced. However, he only shows “mild symptoms” of the disease.

The 79-year-old Democrat has “started taking Paxlovid”, Pfizer’s anti-Covid pill, and will isolate himself at the White House until he tests negative again, his spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said, specifying that the president, fully vaccinated and who received two booster doses, “would continue to assume all of his functions” during this time.

The White House has promised to communicate “every day” on the state of health of Joe Biden, the oldest president ever elected in the United States.
