Angola: Spanish court authorizes autopsy of late president dos Santos

A court in the Spanish city of Barcelona approved the autopsy of the body of former Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who died last week.

The late president , 79, died in Spain where he was being treated for an undisclosed illness.

Tchize dos Santos, requested an autopsy of her father’s body after he died Friday in Barcelona where he was hospitalized weeks ago.

She has spoken of a conspiracy to kill her father to prevent him supporting the opposition in the upcoming Angolan elections.

Dos Santos family’s lawyers denounced moves by the Angolan government to return the body to Angola for a state funeral.

The family said the former president expressed wish to be buried privately in Spain.
