Morocco detects first case of monkeypox

Morocco reported on Thursday its first case of monkeypox, in a traveler coming from Europe, state TV said on Twitter, citing the health ministry.

The patient’s health condition is stable under medical surveillance, and all the patient’s contacts are closely monitored, it added.

The ministry said that preventive measures have been taken to avoid the spread of the virus in accordance with national and international standards, adding that the World Health Organization has been notified about the country of origin of the confirmed case.
