Standing during sex can cause stroke – expert warns

Hussein Botchway, a physiotherapist at Korle-Bu Hospital in Ghana warned of the risks of having sex while standing, saying it can lead to stroke.

According to the physiotherapist, sex is meant to be enjoyed and people bring all sorts of creativity into the act, but “we have to be aware of the positioning”.

“Sex is good, but certain positions, like standing while having it, can lead to conditions like high blood pressure and strokes,” Botchway warned.

He issued the warning during an interview with Accra-based Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, May 19, regarding strokes and hypertension.

“If you stand upright during sex, the blood has to move against gravity and that has a ripple effect on the pressure on the heart,” he added.
