Togo: terrorists attack checkpoint and kill several soldiers

A terrorist group carried out an attack in Togo against a military checkpoint in Koundjoaré in Kpendjal prefecture, near Burkina Faso border, killing eight soldiers and injuring many others, local media reported.

Material damage are also recorded in the attack carried by terrorist elements on motorbikes.

According to the radiomotaog site, about sixty individuals on motorcycles attacked the security post in the area.

During the attack, reinforcements moving through the combat zone allegedly jumped on an IED.

The toll is heavy, 08 soldiers killed, 13 injured, 01 Mamba-type armored vehicle damaged, a jeep burned and a 12.7 support weapon carried away.

No official has yet commented on this attack, which is the second terrorist attack in the country.
