Tesla Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk, becomes the new owner of Twitter after buying the social network for around 44 billion dollars.
The billionaire has concluded the agreement with the social network on Monday, April 25.
“Free speech is the foundation of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital public square where issues vital to the future of humanity are debated,” the Tesla and SpaceX boss said in a statement.
Before buying Twitter, the one whose fortune is estimated at 269 billion dollars, was already the main shareholder of the firm.
Elon Musk intends to transform the social network to make it “the platform for freedom of expression around the world”.
