Police in Nigeria have arrested Peter Nwachukwu, husband of gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, following her sudden death on Friday, local media report.
The singer died on Friday in a hospital in the capital, Abuja.
A police spokesperson in the city has confirmed the arrest of Mr Nwachukwu to the Daily Trust and Punch websites.
The arrest follows a complaint from the singer’s brother.
Initial reports said the 42-year old had been sick with throat cancer, but her family deny that, alleging she had been a victim of domestic abuse.
Osinachi Nwachukwu was one of Nigeria’s most popular gospel artists.
She featured on the 2017 hit gospel song Ekwueme, which has 71 million YouTube views.
Many Nigerians, especially Christians, have reacted with sorrow and anger to the news of her death.
