Nigeria: singer Yemi Alade gets a new job at Africa CDC

Nigerian singer Yemi Alade becomes the global ambassador for a pan-African campaign in partnership with the Africa Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Mastercard to encourage Africans to get vaccinated against Covid-19 pandemic.

The campaign, titled It’s Up to Us, warns that Africans are being “left behind” when it comes to Covid vaccinations.

The Afropop star said on twitter that she is excited to join the Africa CDC, Mastercard and thousands of Africans to stop the spread of coronavirus “one shot at a time”.

The Africa CDC said nearly 12.33% of the continent’s population is fully vaccinated and only 0.91% have received their booster.
