The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned on Tuesday that the covid-19 pandemic is far from over as the Omicron variant seems to be less dangerous for leaders.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus said the Covid-19 “is far from over,” and warned against the idea that the Omicron variant is benin.
“Omicron continues to overlook the planet. […] Do not misunderstand, Omicron causes hospitalizations and deaths, and even the least serious cases overwhelm health facilities, “ he said before adding that “no country is out of danger”.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) had announced on January 11 that although the disease is still in the pandemic phase, the propagation of the Omicron variant would transform the Covid-19 into an endemic disease with which humanity can learn to to live.
But WHO has warned and stated that “this pandemic is far from over and given the incredible growth of Omicron in the world, it is likely that new variants will appear.”
