Angola: schoolchildren ordered to take Covid vaccine

Schoolchildren over the age of 12 in Angola will be barred from entering classrooms if they do not receive their doses of the covid-19 vaccine, the government warns in a statement.

According to the government, these measures are aimed at curbing the spread of the pandemic in the country.

“If accessibility is the issue, mobile clinics will be available outside the school premise,” said Narciso Benedito, a senior education official in the provincial government in the capital, Luanda.

The government launched a vaccination campaign for children in early December.

The southern African country has so far recorded 93,974 cases of coronavirus including 1,866 deaths.
