Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari said the country is working to develop a vaccine against COVID-19 as the country battles the growing number of cases of the virus.
According to health experts, Nigeria needs to triple its vaccination drive from just over 100,000 doses a day to meet its target of inoculating more than half its population by the end of next year.
President Buhari encouraged Nigerians to get vaccinated. Only 4% of the Nigerian population have been fully immunized.
The west African country has so far recorded 245,404 COVID-19 cases including 3,058 deaths.
