Ivory coast: ministers prevented from attending cabinet meeting

Some ministers and other government officials in Ivory Coast were barred from attending the cabinet meeting on Wednesday after failing to show proof of vaccination or present Covid-19 test certificates.

At least eight officials reportedly did not attend the meeting.

According to Ivorian media, absentees included the minister of communication, Amadou Coulibaly, due to illness, and other government members who did not submit their Covid test results to have access to the council room.

Recall that Ivorian health officials announced on 31 December the mandatory presentation of Covid-19 tests before being allowed to large gatherings.

The West African country has so far recorded 75,064 total cases of coronavirus, including 727 deaths.
