COVID-19: Kenya to start giving third dose to its population

The Kenyan Health Ministry announced that it will start administering a third dose of covid vaccine to citizens who have already received two doses, as the country is experiencing a spike in infection cases.

Kenya has confirmed the presence of the Omicron variant in the country two weeks ago and on Friday recorded nearly 33% positive cases from a little more than 9,000 COVID-19 tests.

A report by the health ministry indicated that just over 14% of Kenyan adults had been fully vaccinated.

It also said that the Pfizer vaccine should be offered to children over 15 years old.

The eastern African country has so far recorded 283,000 cases of covid-19 including 5,361 deaths.
