COVID-19: Nigeria added to UK red list as Omicron cases are increasing

Nigeria is now added to the British travel red list as the new coronavirus variant Omicron is wreaking havoc in the west african country.

Britain has imposed strict testing and quarantine restrictions on people wishing to enter the country.

Southern African countries have already been added to the travel red list, because of fears about the Omicron coronavirus variant.

The UK government says the decision is temporary and will be reviewed in three weeks.

Nigeria has so far recorded 215,000 cases of covid-19, including 2,980 deaths.
